Funky vintage costume ideas

The wind is feeling colder, the leaves are falling, and tank tops and short-shorts are long gone... that only means one thing- it's finally fall! Layers, layers, layers everywhere. Fall fashion is a wonderful change from our swimsuits and simple summer dresses. And now that the weather has changed, that means it's almost time for one of our favorite holidays- Halloween!

Coming up with an original costume can be pretty tough, but it can also be a lot of fun. Rather than going to your typical Halloween superstore down the street, why not come by krispyfringe | vintage and see what you can dig up? 1969

America is still mourning the loss of an important hero of US history, Neil Armstrong, who passed away last week.  In 1969, he was the first astronaut to walk on the moon, which was a huge moment for the entire world. It truly was "One small step for man; one giant leap for mankind." Along with the moon landing, 1969 was an iconic year in history, with many major events which happened that year. Richard Nixon became president, Woodstock happened, The Beatles releases 'Abbey Road', and The Brady Bunch debuted on national television.

Not only was this a huge year for politics and pop culture, but it was a huge year for fashion. Clothing made a huge change as the world was now entering the 1970's. Women's fashions were becoming much more fitted and a lot more simple. The hippie movement was also happening, with bell bottoms, tie-dye, and fringe vests everywhere. Here are some photos from Life Magazine of fashionistas in New York in the summer of 1969.

wait, the '90s are vintage?

To everyone who hasn't cleaned out their closet in 10 years, you're in luck- the '90s are back! It's hard to believe, but many trends from the '90s are reappearing all over the runways and in every fashion magazine. It may make you feel old, since most of us still feel that the Spice Girls just happened yesterday and that Uncle Jesse still has that great hair.  However time flies, and now the '90s have officially been deemed "vintage". So what does this mean exactly? Well let me jog your memory: Mini backpacks, neon colors, grunge, baby doll dresses, big shoes, and floral everything. So whether you like it or not, the '90s are back. Luckily we've got some great pieces here at the store for you to get your vintage fix.

Spring 2012 Trend Alert: Color-Blocking!

Believe it or not, but winter is almost over. It may only be February, but retail stores have already started displaying new spring trends for 2012. One of these amazing trends that we're excited for here at krispyfringe is color-blocking. The S/S 2012 runways were filled with bold, solid-colored hues that draw attention to all the right places. Trending pieces can either have various colors either printed or sewn in, or you can put together two or three colors with coordinating accessories to make a statement. There are a million ways to make this look your own.
